Learning School?

Q: is there anyone out there who can lead me to an accreditted distance learning school? I am interested in obtaining a Paralegal Certificate, but would like to be able to practice in the state of maine when i have acquired the certification. I would like to find a school that allows learning over the internet at a reasonable rate. A school that accepts student loans would be nice. Can someone help me out with this? I would really appreciate it. Thank you for your time

A: - Suggest doing a search on the Distance Education and Training Council site, www.detc.org There are 3 or 4 such schools listed there. Be sure to check with the state to be absolutely certain the school you choose will be accepted. - Some quite credible, regionally accredited options off the top of my head are the University of Maryland University College and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Graduate School. I don't know of any ABA-accredited Legal Assistant programs available entirely by distance. My vague memory is that Christopher Newport University might have something along those lines, but my impression was that some required courses were offered only on campus. Even if so, though, they might accept transfer credit to fulfill those requirements. Stock aed advice to look around for yourself, for instance, in the Peterson's/NUCEA guide to DE courses, certainly applies.
