Child Degree Education Job Loan Mortgage

Q: Unless testing tranqs on self is the job my degree gets me, yes it would still worry me. These days things are different. Jobs don't grow on trees and loyalty seems to be a dream from long ago. O, and every time you apply for a job you're competing with 10,000 - 140,000 others (depending on how widely advertised and skilled it is). Besides, what has employment status got to do with education?

A:Well here is a word of assurance for you. I have advertised jobs available ever since 1975, in both good times and difficult times for employment/unemployment, and I have never had more than 20 apply for a job and usually no more than 5 or 6. So take heart and be positive they are there and they are not that hard to get. How does "funding school direct reduces the chances of falls in real Vote Education" work ? Any amount of government spending can be reduced at any time. This is not an agrument about that. At issue is how to get incentives in place to maximise the quality of education from any given dollar. The central Ministry model fails on many counts. I spent some years teaching myself, and know a lot of great people who are teachers. I also know some great people in the ministry - its not an argument about the people. The argument is about results, and the structures which produce them. This point is always made by those who push the agrument that education should be only paid for by general taxation. Irrespective of whether you call it an investment or a cost, you still have to account for NZ$5billion dollars. My view is that people, that is parents, consumers, students call them whatever, should have the responsibility to purchase what it is they believe they require. The Min of Ed cannot make ALL the correct decisions from Wellington. By the way there is nothing to stop people retraining or gaining further training by their own initiative. It certainly has worked for me. Firstly retrianing is not restricted to your quoted professions. Secondly why should those who are working, and perhaps taking open education based courses pay for ALL the educational cost of those who are in full time education. It is perhaps a reflection on the people that I hang out with and who I have discussed this issue with, ie past students, that I have meet more students who have NO debt, and the highest debt that an ex student has quoted to me was $9000 and they paid that off in 14 months. It can be done. It has been done in USA, Holland and probably other countries for years. They still seem to be able to get married, have kids etc.
