Q: Does any one know of any long distance teacher training courses that are available from the UK or any other English speaking country

A: UK colleges, such as the Open University (OU) and University of Greenwich (no connection with the US Greenwich University), offer distance-learning teacher training programs. However, they require actual observation of teaching practice which is normally carried out by their own faculty. Whether they would agree to such observation being carried out by anyone else, only they will be able to tell you. The OU program covers primary and secondary school teaching, and the Greenwich one, post-16 and adult education. I don't know about the OU one but the Greenwich one is intended for existing teachers seeking a Certificate of Education, or Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE). To register for the PGCE program, students must already have a degree or equivalent qualification on entry to the program
