She Is Filing Bankruptcy?

Q: Is she obligated to notify her attorney handling the divorce that she is filing bankruptcy? (Reason being that we anticipate going to trial, and she will incur more debt in attorney fees.)

A: Only if she owed her attorney fees at the time she filed, in which case the attorney is a creditor entitled to notice of the bankruptcy filing. Post-petition fees, that is attorney fees incurred after the bankruptcy is filed, are not affected by the bankruptcy filing.
