Online Biology Degree, Get Your Online Degree...good Grief

Q: Where does it say online? Not that I'd be looking for this kind of degree anyway. :-) As a side note, a farm in our area is offering an online course in "natural" hoof trimming. How one can learn to trim feet, naturally or not, without ever touching one is beside me. Maybe their idea of natural hoof trimming is to tell folks to leave their horse's feet alone and fire their farrier. :-(

A: Oregon State University, has a whole department of Equine science, in conjunction with the school of veterinary science. The school of veterinary science is under going 20 million dollar modernization after they were placed on probation a couple of years ago by the national veterinary medicine accreditation body, The Department of Equine Science has received substantial funding by the state legislature and by grants from large corporate donors. A substantial part of this money is going to the department of Equine science for the modernization of their 200 acer horse farm on campus. The degree is a minor that is generally perused by those students who are in other agricultural programs, biology, zoology, and other associated disciplines as well as the School of Veterinary medicine. The only thing that I would like to attend is their summer workshop held in the Steens and Sheephead mountains and working, observing the wild (er feral) horse herds over there. The University also sponsors the Equestrian Club that has a Dressage, Drill, Hunter-Jumper teams that compete locally and regionally. They are even in the process of fielding polo team. Okay will will stop touting OSU now. (by the way I am not a grad of OSU but of Idaho State University but I am posting from here this morning so I should say some good things about them) I keep hearing that you are not a rider until you have fallen a hundred times. I guess that means that I already have a substantial number of credits toward a degree. Can I apply those credits ? Oh? I have been taking lessons for more than two years, been to lots of shows, ridden with friends. I honestly don't recall any of them ever referring to themselves or anyone else as equestrians. Maybe the people who compete in the Olympics are equestrians. I will settle for being a rider. :-)
