Looking For Online Accounting Degree ?

Q: I am presently considering a new career path. I have a degree in psychology and is wondering whether to pursue another degree in accounting or to get a professional accounting designation instead (e.g CGA or CMA)? Which one is worth more (if you have to choose)? An accounting degree or a professional accounting designation? Anyone out there know of an accredited online accounting degree?

A:Before the extra degrees or designations also consider why you want a career in accounting, take a beginning accounting class at a community college first to determine if you like accounting and see what you're getting into - You normally need something sufficiently similar to an accounting degree in order to pursue the professional designation. It doesn't look like "either-or" to me; it's more like "need both." Now, the average accounting degree has courses in other areas, so you would presumably not need to redo a _whole_ undergrad degree. The thing perhaps worth pursuing, on the degree side, would be an MBA, specializing in accounting/finance. That's normally a shorter degree than a B.Comm or a B.Acc or B.Math, and offers the opportunity to fairly exclusively study accounting. I took an introductory course in accounting and really like it. That is why I want to pursue either a bachelor degree in accounting or get a professional accounting designation. I personally think I don't have what it takes to do an MB

A: There is a quantum leap between an undergraduate introductory accounting course and an MBA with specialization in finance/accounting. I want to be realistic.
