Credit Reports?

Q: how many years will a credit card debt settlement show on a person's credit reports? Also how does it affect a person's life and does it depends on the amount settled? 7 years? 10 years? dunno. doesnt look good, though. not going to get "tier

A: Negitive information has to be removed after seven years. If you have any plans to purchase a home, refinance or take out a second mortgage in that timeframe keep in mind that some underwriters will require that the debt is paid in full before approving a loan, or will require that it is paid from funds at the closing table. 180+ days past due but paid in full looks better than a settlement, but a settlement looks better than bankruptcy.
