Credit Cards
Credit cards are tools of retail transaction settlement and credit system. Using such a card, you can make purchases from merchants supporting that particular card up to a definite credit limit. These cards offer convenience in transactions. Besides, they provide consumers an easy way to keep track of the expenses. It is necessary for maintaining a stable financial life. The credit card providers include general banks and the captive banks created to issue a particular brand of card. While making a purchase through credit card, the card user indicates his or her consent to make the payment by signing a receipt. This receipt carries a record of the card details and indicates the due amount. These days, merchants use electronic verification systems to verify the validity of the card. These systems can instantly check whether the customer has adequate balance to cover the expenses of the purchase. Some services even allow customers to make payments over the telephone. The customer only needs to quote the credit card number embossed onto the card. You can make payments same way for online shopping also. The credit card provider sends a statement to the customers each month that carries records of the purchases and total owing. The customer needs to pay the amount owing by a due date. However, it may not be necessary to pay the entire amount owing. He or she can pay a minimum proportion of the bill according to the terms and conditions. The customer needs to pay interest on the amount owing. This interest rate is usually much higher than most other forms of debt. A customer can do away with the interest charges if he or she pays the balance in full each month. Credits cards have two types- unsecured and secured. A secured card is a VISA or MasterCard for which you need to keep a definite amount of deposit in the bank. To make a purchase, you need to have adequate balance in your account. You cannot make purchase beyond your balance limit. In unsecured cards, you do not need to have a bank balance as such to make purchases. You can choose one of these two types of cards depending on your financial strength and requirements.
