What standing does the debt consolidation company have with the Better Business Bureau, the community, and former customers? Have they been in business long? A debt consolidation company that has been around for at least a few years and has developed a good reputation is simply more likely to be up-front with you and provide you with real services. 4. Does this company have clients they have actually helped? A reputable debt consolidation company - like any company - is happy to share their success stories with you and is happy to show you actual client testimonies from people who have been helped by their services. If past customers have been happy with the debt consolidation company, there is a good chance you will be too. 5. How extravagant are the claims of this debt consolidation company? A reputable company will not claim that all your debts will disappear and they will not claim that all debts will be gone in days. A reputable debt consolidation company will explain that debt consolidation is really just a way of refinancing debt and will work with you to find the debt consolidation solution that is best for you.
