Check Credit History

Q: I have, at best, a crappy credit rating, and I am concerned this may go against me when I fill in my address history information on the G-325a form. Does the INS check the credit history on the addresses I supply, or is it simply a criminal record check? Also, if it is just a criminal record check and as I am clean, do I need to list all the (10 or so) addresses I have had in the past five years? After all, UK criminal records are national not regional, and there doesn't seem to be much room on the G-325a......

A: Addresses don't have credit histories .. people do. No the US Consulate doesn't care about the foreigner's credit rating. As for listing all addresses, that is what you are asked to give, so give it. If you don't have room, attach a sheet of paper marked with the question number on top and list the remaining addresses. Your criminal record check will be done by Scotland Yard and the US Consulate will run a name search on you with the FBI and a further check called the IBIS (International Border Identification Search .
