Can Anyone Recommend A Good Business Credit Card Company To Deal With?

Q: I started independent consulting early this year, and I now need a business credit card so I can keep my finances straight. Can anyone recommend a good business credit card company to deal with? I'd like to get a MasterCard or Visa, preferably with no yearly fee. My personal card is from Colonial National Bank, but they don't handle business accounts. They recommended Advanta. Can anyone comment on that company?

A: -From my experience, the businesses you buy from don't care whether the card is your business' or your own. I presume your interest is mainly to insure that your expenses are liabilities of the business. Well, my experience is that there is bad news. Banks, or whoever issues the card, holds both the business and the individual liable for the charges. I used to have a corporate card for business expenses. Now, I just have another personal charge card which I use (almost) exclusively for business purposes. In either case, I have to make out expense reports. So I go with what is cheaper. - My partner and I have been very satisfied with the Amex Corporate Card. Our positive experiences have included situations in which we disputed charges with a vendor, and as is their style, Amex _always_ credits your account first and then asks the _vendor_ to explain why the charge is valid. Seems like a little thing, but when you're pissed at Kinko's for making a client presentation late, it certainly is good to have them on your side. We've been invited (along with 80% of their members, I'm sure) to upgrade to their gold level card, which has some additional services. I'm only interested in the annual report, which I think is a feature that no credit card that's ever used for anything tax deductible should be without. It made my personal Amex and Mastercard an absolute breeze to quickly 'audit' for business charges. Sorry to sound like an amex commercial, but as a 10yr Gold card member, I'm a tad bit biased, so apply the usual disclaimers
