Q: I NEED A GOOD HOMESCHOOLING NEWSGROUP..I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS RE: HOMESCHOOLING
YOUR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT.
I'VE BEEN TOLD BY THE BOARD OF EDU.(FLA) THAT A CHILD CANNOT BE GRANTED A H.S.
DIPLOMA IF SHE/HE IS HOMESCHOOLED..HE CAN ONLY RECEIVE A GED...I SAY, THAT
STINKS.
I'VE ALSO BEEN INFORMED THAT CERTAIN CIRRICULUM PEDDLERS OFFER DIPLOMAS THROUGH
THEIR PROGRAM...
A:Well of COURSE a kid can't be certified as having sat through 12 years
of mindlessness (or perhaps, if you're lucky, gotten educated) if you
systematically refuse to submit him to it.
The best you can hope for is a certificate that he has actually been
educated.
And someday, businesses and schools will realize that for most
purposes they care more about the latter.
