K-mart All-clad 'like" Cookware

Q: I bought a set of the tri-ply cookware from K-Mart and was at first happy with the way it cooked. Within a week I noticed that the rivets were all corroding badly and had become seriously pitted. Apparently the rivets are made of soft, reactive aluminum rather than stainless steel as would be expected. I returned all for refund and then bought All-Clad instead. BTW I tried a Dutch oven (3-qt) from the Martha Stewart line of Enameled cast iron and found that the rims rusted badly. My LeCreuset treated the same way holds up just fine. There must be a major difference in the base coating process

A: I looked at that MS Dutch oven - the difference between that and my le Creuset was really obvious - the finish, the flaws and the poor interior enamel. I'm pretty bored with Martha Stewart. She is not God. Also, I cannot believe she is enthusiastic about these products, which cover the gamut between patio sets and umbrellas to cookware to household linens. K Mart is no doubt paying her a hefty price just for the use of her name and her endorsements in order to promote sales. When you get right down to it, they are all just K Mart goods. Buyer beware and realize you get what you pay for. You can always find one person with a problem; don't let that become the deciding factor. Mine are perfect. No special care, but I don't put my cookware in the DW very often Oh, I see. That's pretty much what I do--we don't have a dishwasher, so everything gets hand-washed. I also tend to use other pots for tomato sauces, although I do occasionally use wine and lemon juice in the tri-ply pan without problems.
