Iron Cookware Ok On Glass Cooktops?

Q: Looking at new cooktops a salesperson told me iron cookware couldn't be used. What's the deal?... I'm not giving up my iron, I love my LeCreuset stuff and unenameled pans. Why can't you use iron, does anybody use iron on glass cooktops, or do I have to stick with coil elements?

A: What exactly are "glass cooktops"????? If they are those all-smooth, no-element electric cooktops, I have one which I will give you for the price of shipping!!!!!!!! OR, do NOT do it!!!!!!!!! Now, if I have it wrong, please fill me in -- becuz the one that I have & am about to replace came with the house which I bought recently! The cooktop is vintage 1978, Jenn-Air with a grill (which is 220 V & the best part of the whole arrangement!!!) Glass cooktops are the pits. I am a caterer and there is nothing as bad as going into someone's house and having to deal with keeping there glass looking like new. It's usually the same people who have a whole set of Caphalons that have never been used. If you are actually going to cook, get gas. If you just want a pretty kitchen, get glass.
