Handles For Calaphon Cookware

Q: I was given a set a Calaphon aluminum cookware. It is fine, except for the tendancy of the handles to get too hot. I believe I have seen somewhere insulated handles that slip over the cookware handles. Does anyone know where I can find (and preferably mail-order) such handles?

A: For the handles on my cast iron pans, I bought a slip-on "pot" holder at Lechter's for a few bucks. I've seen ones for Calphalon that appear to be some type of rubber, but when I tried to get one on and off in the store, I decided I'n never be able to get it off once I put it on! The one I bought at Lechter's is more like a pot holder only shaped to fit just the handle. It's made of padded, "aluminized" cloth material. I grab it when I need it, just like any other pot holder, use it, and put it back onto the shelf. Try there, or some other kitchen equipment store. I've seen them at Linens and Things and also at Lechter's. I'm sure Williams-Sonoma must carry them.
