Cleaming Aluminum Cookware

Q: try white vinegar for the crusty mess and unsweetend grape kool-aid for stains. Both clean very well and are safe for the environment. :-)

A: How is the grape Kool-Aid used? Is it made up as a hot solution, and what is the active ingredient involved? Is this also effective on stubborn black stains on stainless steel cookware as well? Some of these stains are so burned-in on old pans, that even oven cleaner doesn't seem to cut them. I have used Easy-Off on aluminum, and it gets the item clean, but turns the aluminum black or very dark grey. I was able to polish that off with a lot of elbow grease, using a scotch-brite pad.It didn't seem to harm the metal, otherwise. What about Aluminum Cookware? Whoever wrote "Cleaming..." did mean to write Gleaming Aluminum Cookware, yes?
