Another Cookware Question
Q: asking about AllClad, with handle at a funny angle. You have to know how to pick it up. With a pot holder, grasp the handle from the top, close to the pot, and let rest of the handle run up under your forearm. It is very comfortable that way. Large pots have a loop handle. AllClad is the best I have used. I use LeCreuset for casseroles. Good luck,
A: Someone recently asked about the best cookware, and everyone wanted to know what said person was cooking. Well, I am also in the market for cookware, and would like your recommendations. I will be doing things like frying chicken and fish, cooking pasta, frying bacon, making sauces, chili, omelets, pancakes, sauteing vegetables, ....as you can see, I'll be cooking just about everything most people eat. I don't need any specialized fondue pots or au gratin pans ( not yet anyway..), just the basic saute/stock/saucier/sauce pan set. I have narrowed the choices down to All-Clad Stainless and Calphalon. They both have attributes that appeal to me - stovetop to oven capabilities, visual appeal, construction, etc. They both, however, have attributes I do not like - the Calphalon handles get VERY hot, the All-Clad handles are at a "funny" angle, etc. Are there other lines I should consider? What are the positive and negative attributes of these and other lines you might recommend? What are the basic, essential pieces for a basic kithen generally cooking for one or two? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
