Anodized Aluminum Cookware

Q: I am doing a little pre-shopping homework. Are there any significant differences between Calphalon and the Emeril Lagasse lines of cookware? Are there any other brands of anodized aluminum cookware that stand out above the rest? Thank you for any input

A: myself I have Calphalon and it is nothing fantastic. the finish wears off and they warp if you are not careful. typical aluminum pans. I user a cast iron chicken fryer for browning and such. Calphalon stock pot is ok. non stick pan for lower temp cooking. Knight-Toolworks & Custom Planes +Galoot Made Products- Custom made wooden planes at reasonable prices See http://www.knight-toolworks.com For prices and ordering instructions. The Emeril pans are made by All-Clad. They are non-stick inside, and anodized aluminum outside. So that would make them non-stick AND anodized. I can't see spending "all that money" for Emeril's name on some pans that he doesn't even use on his show....he uses the All-Clad Stainless. If I want Non-stick inside, anodized aluminum outside, I can get a great big set of Farberware like that for about $150! It's not that I don't like Emeril...I can take him or leave him. I just can't understand spending money on a product that isn't any better than something I could get for less money. I'd pay more for the Stainless All-Clad, if I liked their handles, which I don't, because I know it's a superior pan to Farberware....Farberware is only 3 layers, stainless clad aluminum on the bottom, and All-Clad is like that over the entire pan. I have an All-Clad anodized outside, non-stick inside grill pan, and I'm not impressed. I paid "only" $70 for it.....I'd have been much, much happier with a Le Creuset. Oh well. The anodized it hard to keep clean, and their non-stick is not much better than other non-sticks I've used. For one thing, it's not very non-stick....but I digress.
