Advise On Espresso Machine: Delonghi Bar - M 39 Caffe'grande

Q: I am living in Belgium & I am hinting for a hogh quality POD espresso machine (Illy E.S.E.), currently there is not a very large choice except the Caffe'Grande (BAR - M 39) from DeLonghi. Is that model a good buy ?

A: I've had the opportunity to use the Illy "Pony" machine that was set up for the Illy pod. Nice setup but close to $2000 US. I'm not sure if this is the same machine you're looking at.. the "Pony" is made by Unic (France) I was told for Illy. Another pod/cartridge system to consider is Lavazza's Espresso Point. Pretty simple machine. I have a DeLonghi Treviso. It's great. I had two Krups machines that broke down before the DeLonghi. DeLonghi makes better espresso, and I enjoy it more than with the Krups. Sorry, don't know much about the Caffe' Grande version. DeLonghi is a good company to choose, though. My coffee grinder/tamper is a DeLonghi, too. Great machine. I think DeLonghi's prices are worth it! Is this a pump or steam model? steam models make really good paint remover! I would recommend the starbucks barista,its on sale for $100.00 off. It pulls a very good consistent shot of espresso.
