Cdw - Bad Buisness Practices
Q: I am pissed off. I ordered a coolpix 950 on 4-22-1999. It was from CDW
and a rep named rudy. What a joke this whole experience turned out to>be. I was prodded for proof of credit ownership that was above and
beyond what is legally acceptable. This was harrasment on the highest
level. How many of you own a copy machine to copy your license and
credit card, and a fax machine, to fax that item. I can tell you I dont.
A:This is pretty common with mail order if you ask for the item to be
shipped somewhere other than your card's billing address. It's all
too easy to order something with a stolen credit card and it happens
all the time. The vendor is trying to protect themselves and you.
If you were asking them to ship the 950 to your card's billing address
(you didn't indicate whether you were or not), then it's unusual to be
asked for so much paperwork and you're right to be pissed.
