Bright And Clear?

Q: Can anyone recommend a good product to use to keep my silver jewelry bright and not tarnished. I've been using cleaning cloths for now, they come in a red case I can' remmeber the name.

A: -I've used those. They are sold at Target on top of the Jewelry counter. The brand that makes the cloths also makes a liquid that you just dip the jewelry in and it totally cleans it. The container for the silver cleaner is grey. I've used this in the past and it works remarkably well. They sell it at Target and probably at stores like JC Penney or Sears. I think you can also use an ultrasonic cleaner, which costs around $20, and fill it with a liquid cleaner designed for silver jewelry. -I don't have a product recommendation per se, but one tip I got the last time I bought silver jewelry from was to store pieces in a small Zip-Loc bag. The bracelets and necklaces are in individual bags, earrings and rings are grouped together.

I haven't had to do any polishing in a couple of years. -Depending on the amount of tarnish here are the things I use, the cloths (can't think of a brand) I buy them at the jewelry store or hardware store, Never-Dull, and goopey old paste silver polish. The least damaging is a paste silver polish. Never use the liquid dip polishes theydestroy the finish on silver, and if a piece is accidentillay left in the solution for too long it will come out looking like pewter, re-silvering is the only remedy. Once the silver is clean store it in something where little air can get to it, like a zip lock bag. A piece can sit that way for years and never really tarnish.
