Rosary Necklaces / Lariat Necklaces

Q: I'm looking for information on these necklaces. I make a necklace that is very similar to the picture on the caravan bead page and I understand that they are gain- ing popularity in certain areas of the country.

A: I don't watch the above either (who has time?), but based on the number of customers who have either copied the sample necklaces we have in our store (or just bought them off the wall), and also based on feedback from stores we sell to from California to Florida...

Yes, they are definitely popular! But for how long is anyone's guess.

I remember seeing them in some women's fashion magazine more than a year ago. I assume they finally caught on throughout the country and given the changing whims of the fashion industry, I would think that some new fad will soon be taking over. Others may have different opinions?

These necklaces are so popular that you know no one is going to want one by next year! I just did the California Gift Show and more than half of the contemporary crafts section jewelry booths had these. I was dissapointed to see so many "crafters" following the trends so closely instead of doing unique individual work. I would have liked to see these in the fashion jewelry section instead of crafts. But I'm a snob, so maybe you could make and sell a hundred zillion of these this year and retire happy. Basically, I'd say if you want to pursue them do it fast, because most wholesale shows are done for the season (except Seattle), so most buyers will be done buying until summer and who knows if they'll be popular then.
