Bead Challenge Pendant .

Q: I wasn't going to do a challenge piece because I was so new to the group and so new to beading when it was announced that I didn't think it made sense for me to participate. But I decided last week to go ahead and make this piece my challenge, because I had an idea to make a pendant with a stone inside and I had never done something like that before. So, the pendant is polymer clay, painted black and pale orange and laquered, with an orange colored quartz (?)

A: I dont know why but the necklace makes me smile. I like it for a lot of different reasons. The pendant rocks, pardon the expression, and everything just works together nicely. Im glad you joined challenge! The pendant was actually the most fun (and the most work). I must have tried to inlay that stone in seven or eight different designs before I decided I liked this one. The solid black paint is also a real departure as I usually use more of a watercolor effect when I paint beads. But in this case I didn't want to detract from the stone, which is nice by itself.
