Should You Hire A Moving Truck? Or Drive It Yourself?
The idea of a moving truck is downright scary for some people. But if it's time to move your household, you're likely going to be looking for a moving company or taking on the chore of moving yourself. Deciding which is best for you depends on several factors but ultimately will come down to two questions: "How far are you moving?" and "What's your budget." The answers to these questions will likely be the determining factor in whether you tackle the job yourself or hire a pro, but there are some additional considerations. If you're moving a short distance, making several trips is an option. If you're moving across the country, making several trips is probably not feasible and you're going to need a moving truck. The next decision is whether to rent a moving truck from one of the companies that offer this service, or to hire a professional moving company to take your possessions. This is where budget will play a big role in your decision, but you'll also need to consider some other issues - including whether you feel comfortable driving a large moving truck yourself. If you opt to drive yourself, one of the first things you need to do is take stock of the amount of furniture and household items to be moved. You might find that you have accumulated more than you thought possible and that you need to do some serious downsizing before you rent the truck. You should also consider whether you are going to pull a vehicle behind the moving truck. If so, you can certainly fill it with some smaller items, meaning you might get by with a smaller moving truck. For most moving trucks that you can rent, you won't need any special license. The size of the truck and weight of the load determine whether you need a Commercial Drivers License, and the majority of moving trucks won't require that. In some cases, it might simply be more practical to hire a professional moving company to take care of the traveling. If budget is a real issue consider hiring a moving truck that allows you to pack and unpack your belongings to save money.
