Gothic Clothing

There is really no telling where this gothic style of clothing originated from. Somewhere during the 1980's people started to dress in this fashion. It is most likely a state of teenage rebellion as simple as any other. Some gothic clothing makes quite a statement but is also attractive and creative in its own right. A great example of gothic clothing would be that of Mortisha Adams for the famous movie or sitcom the Adam's Family. Her attire was sexy and gothic. Another good example would be Elvira's gothic look, which closely resembles Mortishas dress only with one major difference, which was cleavage. Most gothic clothing is all black and very unusual looking. Catering to, the look of the mysterious or the creepy or even the macabre; Gloomy and dark, netted stockings with black pierced lips. Attention getting and looks like the party will be hosted in the graveyard. Although it may be creepy to the average 40 year old, young adults flock to stores all over North America and Europe to find clothing items that resemble the depiction of the prince and princess of darkness. Some ways to dress in gothic style: - black hair - black lipstick - white, deathlike skin - priest robes - body piercing - skull jewelry These are just a few items there are thousands of ideas and combinations depending on you're your own style. Silk and velvets are gaining in popularity all of the time and many Goth's are incorporating deep colors like blood reds and burgundies etc. It dresses up the look; while others are actually adding florescent colors as a show of their individuality. This look is particularly appealing to teens. Gothic clothing can be found in vintage clothing shops, over the internet, auctions and depending on where you live there may be places where you can go to trade items. Some people who choose to wear the gothic style of clothing make their own creations and if they are good enough will sell them to their friends. There are stores that specialize strictly in Goth wear and leather. You won't find any of these clothing items in a regular department store at this time. However with this trend lasting as long as it has, in the future anything is a possibility. The jewelry can be found in the earth shops where they sell new age items such as candles, Celtic music, natural fragrances and stones. Gothic clothing is somewhat of an art form and a statement. If you are deep in the Goth culture the style of clothing is as natural as putting on a pair of jeans to someone else and as easy to find. So keep your ears and eyes open and you will find all kinds of beautiful Gothic clothing to add to your collection.
