Why We Need Drivers Education Log Book?
Q: I talked to another driver today that runs within 100 miles of his
terminal, and he told me he got nailed for not having a log book.
Is there something new that you have to keep a log even if you don't
drive 100 miles away in one direction?
A:Some companies require their drivers to log so that if/when they do go
outside of the 100 air mile rule they're legal. If you don't exceed the
12 hour/100 air mile rule there is no federal requirement that you log.
Maybe the officer made a mistake or there is some state requirement.
On the citation there should be a specific citation of which regulation
or statute was violated. It should be simple to see if the violation
was of the FMCSR or a local ordinance.
