Where Are All The Education Jobs?
Q: I am thinking about majoring in elementary education.
Everyone says that there are so many jobs. Well, I did my
own research on it, and I found that there are not that
many jobs for grade school teachers.
I searched on the net for jobs, and there are not that
many jobs out there in the elementary school positions.
I researched in the department of labors bureau of labor
statistics book, and to my surprise, it said there is an
over abundant supply of people who want to teach in grade
schools, and there is a big demand for special education
teachers.
So what is going on? The media and my school tell me
that elementary education is a hot field and there are
many jobs out there, however, the FACTS tell a different
story???
A:Many districts to not have their jobs on the web yet. And
many don't start posting jobs for at least another month.
Meanwhile, go to www.ccsd.net . Las Vegas hired about 2000
new teachers last year. They will be hiring a large number
again next year (they're opening new schools at a rate of
approx 1 per month at the moment). Their website is
excellent. In fact, something in the neighborhood (if memory
serves) of 50% of last year's hires were initiated online.
They send their personnel across the US to interview.
I would imagine some areas of Texas, also high growth areas,
are in need.
