What Are My Chances???

Q: Assuming I provide all the required information, i.e. 3 years at University and 6 years working in the relevant technical field. I also have an Immigration lawyer who is handling the case for me. What are the chances of an H-1 Visa actually being approved? I've heard that a lot of Visas are rejected for very little reason, is this true?. Also does your age and marital status go towards your application? I'm young (24) and single, will this help? yes/no?

A: -Your chances sound fine. First off the 'very little reason' bit is untrue. There are a whole set of requirements (education, job requirements - particuarly salary, etc) that must be fulfilled but an experienced immigration lawyer should be able to arrange this without any problem. The next step after getting an approved petition is obtaining the actual visa and it doesn't get much simpler than being a UK citizen with an approved H1B petition. BTW, is the company paying for the immigration lawyer or you? You are allowed to pay for the lawyer but the company is required by law to pay for the filing fees.
