Continuing your education after high school can be a real drag, especially if you have just finished spending the first eighteen years of your life in a classroom. Some people just are not cut out for college but are interested in obtaining a degree that can help them gain the skills and qualifications they need to have a successful career. For those people, there is what is called an associate degree. An associate degree is a two-year degree that states that you completed two years of college coursework. There are many two-year colleges that offer these degrees to students who complete the first two years of a regular four-year college course of study. There are a handful of regular four-year colleges that offer associate degrees, but one typically must attend a two-year college to obtain this degree. Associate degrees can be obtained in one of three categories. There are Associate of Science, Associate of Arts and Associate of Applied Science degrees.
