What Does Date Of Seperation Mean
Q: I have a lawyer, unfortunately she has not answered my questions nor given me any feeling of competancy in divorce/custody matters. She sure knows how to bill though. In fact, there are several questionable bills on my statements that she will not eloborate or explain. Any suggestions on how to : -Get the truth about the bills -Best way to fire this lawyer and, -Best way to find a good divorce/ custody lawyer?
A: You are going to have to do your leg work to find a lawyer, and by that I do NOT mean the yellow pages! Where I live, there are some lawyers who carry the "QC" designation. These are lawyers of distinction. They are EXPERTS in specific areas of law and "QC" means "Queens Counsellor". The Crown can and will enlist the services of these lawyers either for advice, or for these lawyers to represent the Crown (State) in cases where arms-length objectrivity is required and can only be provided by someone other than the Crown. If you have an equivalent where you live, then hire one who specializes in Divorce. I had to go through 2 lawyers before I found #3 who was a GOOD one! He was a "QC" who had been a lawyer for 35 years, and 25 of those years were in Divorce! Failing that, start looking up the Judges decisions in divorce cases. This can often be done on-line. Look at the lawyers names and the judges names. You will soone get a feel for which judges are biased against men - there are lots of them - and which lawyers seem to "win" for men on a consistant basis. Seek
