Wedding Invitations To Reflect The Couple
When selecting wedding invitations, most couples go for one of two or three sets of phrases. Often, the invitation will say something like, “The parents of Jane Smith and John Doe wish to invite you to share in the union of their children.” But today, more couples are being married later in life. While it is completely appropriate for a wedding invitation of young people to be issued by the parents, a couple in their thirties or forties might want to chose some other invitation. As second marriages have become more common, some people elect to have the children “issue” the invitation. “The children of Jane Smith and John Doe respectfully request your presence at the union of their parents. It’s also perfectly acceptable for the bride and groom to issue the invitation, or to simply say, “Your presence is requested.” Especially if the wedding is to be less formal, and if the majority of family and friends live locally, area newspapers can be an excellent way to make the wedding invitation public. The hazard is that you won’t know who plans to come and since you can’t control who reads the wedding notice, there’s no way to eliminate some people from the guest list.
