Q: The Vintage, Fashion and Costume Jewelry Club will host a convention Founded in 1991 by Lucille Tempesta of Glen Oaks, New York, the private club boasts more than 2,000 members throughout the world and is affiliated with the Costume Jewelry Museum located in Providence, Rhode Island, the jewelry capital of the United States. Comprised of dealers, authors, collectors and appraisers, the group strives to preserve, educate and promote the wearing of individual pieces of art more commonly referred to as costume jewelry. The VFCJ convention promises to offer an insightful and educational experience for attendees with an array of notable presenters and speakers including author and publisher Nancy Schiffer of West Chester, Pennsylvania, designers Wendy Gell and Brenda Sue Lansdowne, QVC host Suzanne Runyon, Philadelphia Museum of Art Vintage Fashion Curator Dilys Blum, Rhode Island manufacturer Paul DeFruscio, JewelCollect Owner and List Administrator Isabelle Bryman and VFCJ owner Lucille Tempesta. The groups' itinerary includes a day of educational programs featuring a segment on Internet commerce, a history of jewelry manufacturing, explanations of how older pieces were worn and the components of publishing collectibles.
