US TOP TEN BEACHES BY YAHOO

Since nothing draws the image of summertime better than the beach, Yahoo Travels has come up with a list of the top ten US beaches of 2005. Through an online survey answered by 1,183 respondents, the people have voted that the sands on the following places definitely rule: 1. Waikiki, Hawaii. Waikiki—which means fetched water in Hawaiian-is found in the city of Honolulu. It extends from the Ala Wai Canal (a channel dug to drain former wetlands) on the west and north, to Diamond Head or Leahi on the east. With Hawaii being the summer capital of the US, it’s only right that it climbs to number one from last years 4th year standing. 2. Key West, Florida. Located in what is known as the Southernmost city and the Conch Republic, the beach in Key West is located in Monroe County. It is the passenger destination of many cruise ships and provides airline service. 3. Miami, Florida. Found in Southeast Florida down in Miami-Dade country, this city of 2.2M is a known for its beaches and fusion of American and Latin American culture. 4. Tampa Bay, Florida. This west coast beach hosts three prominent US cities on its shores: Tampa, Saint Petersburg, and Clearwater. 5. Santa Barbara, California. This beach resides along the beautiful Pacific Ocean in Santa Barbara County, often called as the "American Riviera" because of its Mediterranean climate. 6. Daytona, Florida. Located in Valusia County, this beach not only attracts swimmers and surfers, but racers gunning to take over its Daytona International Speedway. 7. Kaanapali, Hawaii. Yet another beautiful beach in Hawaii, this time in luscious Maui. 8. Panama City, Florida. Is located in Bay County, Florida in an area known as he area is often nicknamed The Redneck Riviera for its many visitors from the southern states. 9. Newport, California. An ever popular beach probably made even

more popular by a current WB show. Newport is located in sunny Orange Country. 10. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. A major tourist destination along the South Atlantic seaboard of the United States, widely known for its wide beaches, large selections of challenging golf links, excellent seafood restaurants, and outlet-style shopping activities.
