Trying To Learn Motorcycle Safety Training Course

Q: I've lurking around here a bit, trying to learn some things. I do not own a bike right now. I think I may have the fever now and am thinking of getting a cruiser bike. I've never driven a bike before (I can't really count the 5 minute period when I was a kid when my dad had me in a field, in front of him on the bike and I was gassing around the field. Never even shifted gears) and I don't rally know the basics (sequence for shifting, proper braking and all that). I've seen a lot of posts this morning about MSF, which I'm assuming is a motorcycle safety training course of some kind. Right? I would definitely plan on taking one of those before making a purchase. What is involved in one of these courses? Also, are there any other courses or other training activities that I would need to do? Since I didn't learn to drive a bike at a young age, I think I need to train officially so that I can be competent biker

A:begin with the msf - it's a good place to start: http://www.msf-usa.org/ As someone already posted, http://www.msf-usa.org/ or (800) 446-9277. Basically, once you find a slot, you'll spend a weekend learning basic skills. Very basic skills. It's defininely worth the time and money.
