Theater Tickets

There are many ways to obtain theater tickets, and these vary depending on what theater you will be attending. One way is to go directly through that theater's box office. Often, the theater's box office will offer tickets with a lower convenience charge than places like Ticketmaster. You can find out about theater tickets for the show you want to attend by going to that theater's website, or looking their phone number up in the phone book. You can call them directly or visit their website to learn ticket information and show dates and times, to reserve theater tickets, and purchase them over the internet or phone. Another way to purchase theater tickets is to use a company like Ticketmaster. They sell many different kinds of tickets for events and shows all over the world, and sell theater tickets for everything from Broadway shows to small shows in whatever town you live in. One way to be aware of what shows will be playing soon in your area is to watch the Arts section of your local newspaper. You will be able to see advertisements relating to upcoming shows. Many times, these ads will also have information about the theater tickets, such as their price for adults and children. When purchasing theater tickets, it is important to remember that the actual price listed is not what you will pay unless you purchase them at the theater's box office. Most sellers of theater tickets charge convenience fees. These fees are how the companies make a profit, and are charged to you because they made it so easy for you to find and purchase the theater tickets. How much of a fee you will pay for convenience is solely dependant on what company you are using. Some companies have a standard fee that they charge, that may be as low as six dollars. Others have fees that may change with the price of the theater tickets you are purchasing. These can get a little expensive, sometimes tacking on a large percentage of the original theater tickets price. For example, there is one website on the internet that sells theater tickets to Broadway and off-Broadway shows. For Broadway theater tickets that individually

cost 101 dollars apiece, the convenience fee is 20 dollars apiece. That is a twenty percent increase of your total price, simply for the convenience. It is much better to locate a company that sells tickets with a lower (and possibly standard) convenience fee, than to have to pay so much extra for your theater tickets. Another method is just skipping those companies altogether, and going directly to the theater company to purchase your theater tickets. While their box office may charge a convenience fee, it is usually much lower than ticket-selling companies. This is because they are making their profit in every ticket sold, not just on the convenience fees of the theater tickets.
