Aztec clothing is renowned for its individuality and important association with religion. The Aztec culture gained prominence around the late fourteen hundreds and as well as being noted as an advanced civilization, they have also been noted for their clothes. Dress played a major role in the life of the Aztec and Aztec clothing was closely linked to their religion. Aztec clothing was worn for protection as they always wore lots of armor to protect themselves in times of war. Aztec clothing was also used as a way to distinguish between the social classes of the Aztecs. Within Aztecs culture there were several different social classes, nobles, commoners, serfs and slaves. The Aztec clothing worn by these individuals would distinguish them from one another. For example slaves wore very little Aztec clothing but they did wear lots of jewels and were adorned feathers in relation to their workmanship. Aztec clothing was closely linked to their religious ceremonies, and the priests in particular had a strict dress code when conducting theses ceremonies.
