Take A London Tour

Few European cities offer the attractions, excitement, and convenience of touring ancient and contemporary landmarks as London, England. With so much to see and do, try to set aside several days for your adventure of discovery. But even if you have just a day or two, you will not be disappointed when you plan it carefully. 1. Schedule a bus tour. You can ride a double decker around the sites of London to see the many fine places that will clamor for your attention. Take note of St. Paul’s Cathedral, Trafalgar Square, and Westminster Abbey for starters. Long recognized and loved for their role in the city’s political and spiritual development, they offer a regal welcome to those who stop by to visit. 2. Take a walking tour. Check out the underground schedule to hop the tube at convenient locations. You can explore Nottinghill and Piccadilly for trendy shops and quaint bookstores. Or go to the immigrant district to dine at Asian eateries or shop for exotic imports. When you’ve seen enough of one district, take the tube to the next or call a taxi if you must, keeping in mind the price difference. 3. Visit London history. You will want to include the Tower of London in your travels. Erected in 1066 by William the Conqueror as a fortress to repel invaders, the Tower long served

as residence to royalty and the final destination of traitors and miscreants. Three queens and numerous criminals were executed here. London Bridge connects the City of London with Southwark, home of William Shakespeare’s Globe Theater, now resurrected close to the site of the original that was torn down in the 1640’s by Oliver Cromwell’s roundheads. 4. Go upscale. Tour Buckingham Palace or one of the other royal sites. Get theater tickets for Covent Garden. Shop at Harrod’s. If you have the time and money, London can offer just about anything you might want. Whatever your recreational tastes, London has it all. Start planning your next trip to make it one you will never forget!
