Sun Glasses

Sun glasses are an important, and often under-appreciated part of eye care in the harsher outdoor environment. Today sun glasses have far surpassed the level of mere colored lenses used throughout much of modern history and offer a variety of genuine protection against the more harmful rays from the sun. Some interesting historical postulations regarding the origins of sunglasses include a story about its uses by the Chinese. Sunglasses were first created by a method of smoke tinting that darkened the lenses, but offered no other benefits. Also, the lenses had no corrective abilities. Chinese judges in the fifteenth century would don these tinted lenses in an effort to appear free of partiality when examining evidence put before them. Centuries later, fighter pilots made good use of sun glasses as they flew their aircraft in the

cloud free skies, allowing them to view other objects in the sky that would otherwise be far more difficult to see due to the glare of the sun. Civilians and returning servicemen then caught on to the trend and sun glasses and their widespread use became more evident. Today, sun glasses come in an array of styles and levels of protection. Sun glasses can be designed to protect against several and specific harmful rays from the sun. Technology is put to good use in the development and manufacture of modern sun glasses and offer a level of protection never before enjoyed. Sun glasses are no longer a matter of convenience or fashion, but an integral part of keeping skin and eyes healthy.
