Side Effects Of Zoloft ?

Q: My doctor decided i was depressed and put me on Zoloft. I was wondering what side effects there were.

A:Zoloft worked fantastically for me. I had mild depression and OCD. I loved it, but, unfortunately, I had the side effect that most doctors do not tell you about - long term, significant weight gain. I gained 40 lb in 6 mos. Finally called the pharmacist and asked him to look it up for me. He confirmed that the Zoloft did it! Bee careful! My theory is that the meds caused me to feel so good that I lost all my guilt about everything, including eating! Good luck! By the way, with diet and exercise it all came off within 6 - 8 mos of my going off the drug. What a pretty name :) It is really hard to predict what side-effects if any you will experience. What is one persons experience on Zoloft might not be yours. Also worrying about side-effects will increase your anxiety, then you won`t know if it is truly side-effects you are feeling or the increased anxiety from worrying. When I weaned on Paxil I worried so much about side-effects that I think I caused some of them :) The more common side-effects can be fatigue, nausea, dizziness,

increase in anxiety, etc. There is no saying if you will have any of them. If you do, they will more than likely disappear in a few weeks. What experts and others have mentioned is so true about increased anxiety with just starting a new med. The side effects I noticed that certainly were tolerable was dry mouth and eyes. I didn't gain any weight in fact I took it off with getting so much motivation to stay busy. So the side effects vary from person to person.Keep a open line of communication with your prescribing doctor and approach him/her with any and all questions.Once the med starts working you will be able to weigh the good effects against the bad.
