Sexual Harassment In The Workplace

Q:

A:No, most if not all sexual harrasment is done by people in positions of power who get off on such behaviour. They do it, secure in the knowledge that the victim is unable to respond or ask for it to cease. Complain to their superior, make a sworn statement to be given to the boss and take along a support person. Don't allow yourself to be bulldozed in any way and promise publicity and lots of it if swift and severe action is not taken It is sexual harassment. You could try talking with your Boss, (assuming its not him/her) and asking them to have a word with the person involved, but as you said it happens at meetings, so its either you boss or they ignore it. I have been involved with 2 cases of harassment agaist female workers, and 1 against a male worker as well. In 1 of the cases the person was not happy about writing a statement, I believe that person was looking for revenge. But the 2 other case were taken

up by the company and the persons involved were terminated, one person took the company to the disputes tribunal but didn't get anywhere with it. I would suggest you talk with the person involved and tell them that you are perpared to take action if they do not cease. If they don't stop put in a formal complaint to the company, most of them have procedures for this. Don't mess around, sort it out before it gets totally out of hand. If you want to know more about what happened mail me (I only check it about once a week so a reply might be slow). Also, when one of the men in particular was fired there were quite a few sighs of relief around the office.
