Seeking Business Card Ideas

Q: For the last several years, I have been using VistaPrint for my business cards, and the cards of the subcontractors who periodically do work for me. A scan of the card can be seen at http://www.qcs-rf.com/images/qcs-bizcard.jpg . I chose this design because it is a technical look, but the hand implies a hands-on approach and I like the color because they're easy to distinguish on a wall of business cards. However, I will be joining the chamber of commerce here in town within the month, and I would like to ensure that my business cards demonstrate professionalism while at the same time they don't look like everyone else's business card, and that my logo is somehow incorporated into the design. Another thing - my cards find themselves taped onto computer monitors and if someone is in their office and happens to notice the

card taped to the monitor (which is fantastic visibility in my opinion), the card should be doing a little work to catch their attention, i.e. bright and/or a variety of colors. What designs have others here used to this end?

A: I would make a modest recommendation - that your business cards, website, letterhead, etc., all reflect a common "theme." If you use the colorful logo on your business cards, make sure the website is similar in look and feel. A visitor to your website (from the address on your business card), should automatically knows it's the correct website just by key similarities between the website and the business card.
