School Girls And Uniforms
For many school girls, choosing what to wear for the day is a gut wrenching challenge. The result is sometimes inappropriate attire that results in disciplinary action or causes embarrassment to the girl. Some schools are helping to eliminate the situation by moving to school uniforms. A few decades ago, school uniforms were considered to be private school attire. As some schools face increasing problems of gangs with their prominently displayed colors, profane tee shirt logos or skimpy clothing not appropriate for school, they are moving to a uniform system. While it might seem that school girls will then have very limited wardrobe options, some school uniform systems offer several styles and choices while remaining within the school’s dress code. A blue plaid material has been popular with many schools. School girls are given the option of skirts or jumpers, usually worn with white blouses. The navy, green or white socks are also part of most school uniforms, and navy tights may be substituted, especially when cooler weather sets in. Because dresses are not always appropriate for cold climates, some school uniform systems also include pants, usually in the same plaid or solid navy or green. Boy’s uniforms are similar, with the navy plaid used for shorts,
