The school alumnus can usually find sites dedicated to all the schools he attended, from grade school through graduate school. The school alumnus who is searching for former classmates need only take time to do a few Internet searches. There are several prominent sites dedicated to helping classmates reconnect. Even if the school alumnus has no real intention of contacting former classmates will usually find these sites bring back fond memories. The most popular sites offer an opportunity for the school alumnus to add his school, if it doesn’t already appear on their listing. Most allow the school alumnus to add his profile for free, and even to search for classmates who have also signed onto the site. The catch, for most of these sites, comes when trying to access personal information, including contact information, about specific students. For that, the school alumnus must subscribe to the service. Some larger schools, colleges and universities have their own Web site, complete with information about alumni. For the school alumnus who finds his information is not included on the site, adding that information is typically a brief process. School-sponsored sites don’t often charge the alumni

for accessing the site, but most of the information is kept private. Some classes have also created their own Web sites. These sites are typically more difficult to locate with a simple Internet search, but a little persistence usually pays off. Searching with the name of the school, the town and state is a good way to start. But try different combinations of those, along with the last names of any senior class officers. If there isn’t a Web site already dedicated to the class of the school alumnus, he has the option of creating his own. Setting up a site is not difficult, and by contacting a few class members, it’s usually possible to generate enough interest to make the site a success.
