Scanning Business Cards: Do I Really Need A Special Card Scanner?

Q: We don't have a business card scanner here at work.... but do have regular flatbed scanners. Could I line up all these business cards on a flatbed scanner..... scan then en mass..... and somehow break them up into individual files for import into Outlook contacts folder? Bottom line... anyway to use a reg flat bed scanners to scan business cards and get then into Outlook??

A: Problem I see with this is the OCR. If you have an absolutely great OCR program, you could scan business cards ok. But any OCR mistake on a phone number or street address could be crucial. As far as I know, each card would need to be scanned individually. If there's an efficient way to do what you want, I'll be interested to learn how. From what little I know, it's not practical.
