Ring Setting Advice-blue Topaz
Q: I have a lovely blue topaz stone with sentimental value I need to get
set. I don't want to sink much money into it and would love the look
of "diamonds" in the setting but can't afford it. Has anyone bought a
cz setting they liked and pulled the main stone out and put a
different stone in it (by a jeweler)? I want 14K gold for a ring.
What would look best with a blue topaz (swiss type blue), a yellow or
white setting?????
A:However, if you have an unusual size stone you may not find a ring that can
accomodate that stone. Try going to a jewelry store so they can measure the
stone and they should have a catalog. Stullers comes to mind, they can show
you ring settings.
I have blue topaz in both 14K gold and another one in sterling silver which
also looks nice. So either way your choice of yellow or white would work.
Depends on the type of ring chosen. You may ask them about adding another
small stone or two of white topaz (looks a bit like a white diamond) which
isn't that expensive.
If white topaz doesn't work, then try White zircon or even better the newest
diamond knock off is going moissenitte (sp?) it ssupposedly lookes more like a
diamond than a cz. I prefer white gold or silver with the brighter blue topaz.
