Red China Restricting Adoptions , Teen Anxiety And Depression
Q: I saw this on the news yesterday. Red China is starting to restrict
adoptions to the U.S. These are mainly unwanted little girls. They
will no longer allow adoptions to single parents and to people who are
taking medications for anxiety and depression. I guess it make a lot
of sense. A divorced man in his 40's adopted a 5 year old girl from
Russia and molested her for about 7 years. He sold child pornography
on the internet until he was caught. I personally know what it is like
living in a home with parents suffering from anxiety and depression.
At least it proves that the Chinese are not just trying to make a quick
dollar and do care what happens with their children. The Chinese
system is by no means perfect. They have forced abortions and lots of
infant female child abandonment and murder and many orphanages
throughout the country. At least they are trying to prevent people
from having children who should not have them.
A:This is blatant discrimination and patently absurd....obese people cannot
adopt either. It concerns me Fred that you link single parents, people on
meds for anxiety and depression and a child molester. One factor has nothing
to do with the other, you do know that. Sure, china is concerned that any
children they adopt out have a chance for a better life; one where two
parents are likely to be healthier. Their claim is that those who are
single, on meds (remember mental health issues are all but swept under the
rug over there, and here often in the Asian culture), or fat are more likely
to die young. Given their issues with unwanted girls, they are being a bit
hypocritical...and the only ones who will suffer are the children.
Some things in life suck. I used to sell life, health, and Property
and casualty insurance. One person was rated on her policy due to
Asthma. I placed the policy but the customer was not happy. She died
several years later from a severe reaction to an annestetic on the
dentist chair. Some people who got rated for seeing a chiropractor got
rated or had their back excluded from coverage. Some people who had a
minor fender bender or had boy teen agers either got rejected or rated.
I can see how an overweight single person can get rejected for
adoption. It is the way that it is. I know what I had go go through
with parents that had electo-shock treatment and were treated for
depression and anxiety all their lives. I know the affect that it is
having on me right now. The armed forces is also not allowing anyone
who has been taking meds for depression or anxiety past age 12 into any
of the services. Eric Harris of Columbine fame was just rejected from
the Marines a couple of nights before the Columbine duo went on their
rampage. I have personally had to deal with a very unstable ex-marine
who helped get me fired from a job. He had a drinking problem and some
very serious behavior problems. I don't think he would have made it
into the present Marine Corps. My mother wanted a baby that she could
play with and love. She was unable to protect me or advocate for me.
