RN Degree Online
Q: Can anyone tell me if anyone out there offers an RN degree online?
Most of the research I have done points to no, but maybe I am not
looking in the right spots. All I see is the RN to BSN degrees
A:I don't know of one, and there is a good reason. Much of the generic RN
coursework consists of supervised clinicals, and online generic students
would have to find their own preceptors in all the different areas.
Very difficult for the student to find and for the university to
maintain quality control on. The RN-to-BSN programs don't have that
problem because the students have their own RN licenses and consequently
don't need to be supervised during clinicals.
That isn't a site for an ADN degree on line. It's a site for a "study course"
to prepare students to pass the Excelsior College examinations. First of all,
not everyone qualifies to get an ADN through Excelsior--they need to have some
prior health care experience (the specific types of experience are spelled out,
I believe, on the Excelsior website). Second, the site that this poster
mentioned doesn't award a degree. I have no idea of their study guides are
helpful or not, but certainly many people have gotten their degree through
Excelsior without them. This site is not part of a degree-granting
institution, nor does it claim to be.
