Phone Service Options

These days, you have many choices available to you when it comes to your phone service. Gone are the days of one household phone with an optional answering machine to answer when you are gone. However, that has all changed in the last few years. Now multiple phones and phone services are the norm rather than the exception. Whether you have a landline, a cell phone or both, there a so many different options available that it can become overwhelming. However, if you consider your budget and your needs, you will be able to make an educated choice on the matter. If you only have a landline, your choices are fairly simple. You will need a basic local and long distance plan with a tolerable monthly rather. However, there are also several extras to consider purchasing, like call waiting, call return, voice mail and three-way calling. All of these additions can add up, so be sure you truly need them before you place an order. For cell phone users, phone service plans are a bit more complicated. Though some companies offer flat monthly fees, it is more common for users to

be required to pay by the minute. Many service plans offer a certain number of minutes for a flat rate, and then they charge significantly more for every minute over the allotted amount of time. Some of these plans allow unlimited night and weekend minutes, however, so they are often a good choice for cell phone users who are on a budget. If you have DSL Internet service, then you will have to have a land line in addition to your cell phone. Because DSL works through the phone lines, you must have an active phone connection to participate in the service. DSL service is typically billed through your regular phone company, so both fees can be paid together at the same time every month.
