Online Master Degree Business Administration, Hiring Decision

Q: I have an application for a position from someone who has a Masters degree in Internet Strategy Management from a college in Vermont. Is anyone out there familiar with these new technology masters degrees? Any opinions? I'm only asking here because lots of iranians are in the hi-tech biz and someone here may know (I think lot of SCI residents are in the computer biz too).

A:Depending on the college, the studies can vary. As far as I know, this degree concentrates on on-line business management. In short, having the ability to transform and maintain a business into e-business. What strategies should be followed? Which technologies are relevant for the various tactics? How to establish an on-line presence? What strategies should be used for customer acquisition, retention and support online? How to deal with partners and suppliers online? Hope this helps. is your info specifically on this program or in general? It is interesting how many people from such varied backgrounds end up in the "new tech" biz but I guess it was only a matter of time before specialized degrees were offered. Now, if only these things

were RELIABLY offered on-line and people could get a decent education sitting at home - the result would not only do away with the elitism of attending the 'right schools' but the massive increase in education would really change the world! The info I posted was related to this particular degree. I have hired a couple of people with similar degrees "Internet Business Administration" and "Internet Strategy Technical Management". I have also heard that Stanford is going to be offering a specialized MBA in Internet Business Management - which is pretty much in the area of on-line business or e-business. There are a few colleges on-line. Check out www.sessions.edu.
