Online Master's Programs?
Q: I am looking for an online graduate program that focuses on technology
integration. Has anyone heard anything about Walden University's program or
the University of Phoenix? I like the flexibility that these programs seem
to have. Are you aware of any other online Master's programs?
A:I am the distance learning guide at About.com. The Distance Learning site is
for students like you: over 1,000 Web sites organized under almost 30
categories which treat student issues. There is a comprehensive, and growing,
online reference shelf, which alone, is worth a book mark. Then there is an
archive of well researched "How to" articles on doing online research, setting
up home study areas, selecting your technology, financial aid, lots more.
Now to your inquery:
Walden and University of Phoenix are strong programs. You won't go wrong with
either. But they are a bit pricey.
Both are regionally accredited. UOPx has no residency requirement. Walden has
extension-site seminars.
Other online masters programs from public universities, which are less
expensive, are:
University of Maryland (www.umuc.edu)
University of Texas (www.telecampus.utsystem.edu)
University of Wyoming (ecampus.uwyo.edu)
There's a strong program at the University of Illinois, Urbana. The costs are
comparable to UOPx and Walden.
To make your program selection easier, you might go to the About.com distance
learning site. It is the only site we know of which supports online STUDENTS
and there are lots of "admissions and selection" resources there for you. For
instance:
